MT. Biking. I left work for a quick spin on the MTB for a change. Rode along the dock side toward Ashton Court, I went up Rownham Hill, what a bitch of a hill. Entered Ashton Court at the top of the hill, I didn't go straight off road but continued past the golf course and started my off road expidition at the start line of the annual MTB race. I followed the course that is usually taken on the race, which goes along past the deer park and past the quarry, back toward the start line, where I headed off course. This took me through the newly crafted MTB speciflc section of wood next to the golf course and back to where I entered Ashton Court. From here I went through the woods down hill towards the Mansion, this too had changed a lot since I was last out on a MTB. I took the reverse route back home along the dock side. Cottage pub was tempting to stop at, but I didn't, I just stopped for a while and dreamt about having a sailing boat again. The ride was not as quick as I would have liked but I think I may have been suffering from the night before out on the road bike. I covered about 10miles on the road and about 8 miles off road. I need to get in a lot more off road miles if I want to beat Brad when we do the Cheddar Challenge. (see Oct 03 calander for more details of Cheddar Challenge)

Having not cycled off road for a while I was in pain from all the buffeting of the hard ground, although these bikes have suspension you still get knocked about a bit. I guess I will have to get out there more, that way I might just get used to it.
